Summary:

The San Francisco office of a global law firm has an immediate opening for a Legal Marketing Assistant. Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Client Development – Regional, the Legal Marketing Assistant will be primarily responsible for assisting the West Coast Client Development team in handling marketing efforts for the San Francisco and Palo Alto offices. This role provides support for event coordination, client entertainment, sponsorships and contributions, and assorted client development projects. This is a full-time, contract-to-hire position resident in the San Francisco office. The role will be remote until a formal office reopening date is determined.

Job Description:
  • Assist in planning and executing client-facing Firm-hosted events, seminars/conferences, receptions, client dinners, speaking engagements, client entertainment, and other event activities.
  • Develop and maintain contact lists for communications and events, including data entry and RSVP tracking.
  • Track and report on client entertainment activities, events, and contributions.
  • Process client development invoices, check requests, and accounting information for West Coast offices.
  • Provide administrative support for monthly meetings and client team meetings.
  • Regularly update and maintain lawyer biographies.
  • Coordinate attorney and professional staff headshots.
  • Assist with business development opportunities, including pitches and proposals.
  • Conduct research on current and prospective clients and other law firms.
  • Maintain archived information and department files.
  • Coordinate special projects as directed.
  • Other West Coast and Firmwide client development projects as assigned by the Chief Client Officer; Director, Client Development – Tech Sector; Director, Client Development – Coaching & Lateral Integration; and Senior Coordinator, Client Development – Regional.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1 year minimum of previous marketing, public relations, communications, or event experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to visit face-to-face, over the phone, or through email with lawyers, staff, clients, and event planners, often in stressful situations.
  • Ability to perform detailed work accurately, thoroughly, and consistently.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask and work in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure, and interact with all levels of management effectively.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Must have strong organizational, decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Must exhibit strong interpersonal skills and patience and be able to maintain effective relationships with co-workers and employees.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and be comfortable taking the lead to effectively complete approved projects.
  • Must be reliable and a self-starter.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports as well as verify data input and correct errors.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. experience with InterAction, Vuture, and Adobe Acrobat is a plus.
  • Proficiency in social media is preferred.

Work Environment

  • Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment.
  • The position is full-time and requires a five-day workweek and standard hours. Overtime will be required on occasion, including weekend and evening hours.
  • Some travel may be required to support firm events.

Compensation:

The full-time salary for this position is up to $75K for a more mid-junior-level candidate.  Will also consider more senior candidates and the salary would be higher commensurate with experience.
