Summary:
A well-established law firm specializing in family, state, federal, civil and criminal litigation is currently seeking an experienced Legal Assistant.
Job Description:
- Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support with minimal supervision
- Answer phone calls
- Calendar litigation deadlines and perform administrative tasks as necessary
- Ensure calendar and billing sheets are up to date
- Record and store client information
- Prepare, edit, review, and organize legal documents and correspondence
- Responsible for creation and maintenance of files
- Responsible for opening new matters, running conflict checks and preparing engagement letters
- Handle incoming calls.
- Schedule appointments and maintain attorney’s calendar, including travel arrangements
- Responsible for attorney time entry and expense reimbursements
- Ensure documentation is properly filed electronically and physically

Job Requirements:
- 5 – 10+ years of previous experience in a law firm environment
- Familiarity with legal research
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs – especially Microsoft Outlook – and an ability to learn and use various other office software systems
- Excellent phone skills
- Ability to learn quickly, assimilate information and take direction, when necessary
- Familiarity with common legal terminology
- Ability to manage time wisely and efficiently balance competing demands
- Ability to uphold highest standards of discretion and confidentiality and exercise good judgment on a day-to-day basis
