The Staff Property Accountant is responsible for daily processing and maintenance of basic accounting data that flows to the property financials including accounts payable invoices, accounts receivable, and related bank reconciliation tasks. This is a full-time position that reports to the Controller.

Job Description:
  • Process accounts payable and or receivables in the MRI accounting software system
  • Review, code, and submit accounts payable invoices to appropriate team member for approval using Nexxus accounts payable
  • Manage external vendor records including W-9s, invoices, and contracts. Process 1099s & 1096s annually for each assigned entity
  • Establish, maintain, and update lease and tenant records in the accounting software
  • Process tenant invoices for rent, management fees, maintenance costs, and other monthly administrative expenses.
  • Reconcile general ledger transactions and perform necessary journal entries on assigned properties
  • Assist the Controller with monthly financial statement preparation, annual income tax returns, and year-end accounting close-out process for assigned properties.
  • Monitor, update, and report depreciation schedules
  • Build and publish various financial reports on assigned properties to multiple departments within the organization. Create ad hoc reports as required.
  • Run occasional errands using a company-owned vehicle such as performing bank deposits
  • Create, analyze, and maintain annual and re-forecast budgets for assigned properties.
  • Provide professional and responsive accounting support to internal customer as needed
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • At least 2 year’s of experience working with financial information from multiple entities and analyzing financial information in a variety of contexts.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Experience working with an accounting information system (AIS), MRI preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel


  • Accounting experience with a professional services or commercial real estate firm
